Preschooler/Kindergarten:
Cycle of Seasons is a 40-minute class for ages 3-6
years old with an adult. Celebrate your child's love of nature and growing
independence through activities which focus on the seasons of the year. Classes
are designed
to build attention and
self-expression and include singing, chanting, moving, focused listening,
musical games, exploring musical instruments, creative movement, poetry and
story-telling.
Babies: Family Music for Babies is a 30-minute class for newborns up
to 16 months old with Mom, Dad or other caregiver. We have a number of
activities including bouncing songs, rocking songs, dances, body awareness
games,
and peek-a-boo and wiggle games. Sign
language for babies (using ASL signs) will also be incorporated. Music play
activities are designed to increase your child's curiosity about music, to
develop listening skills and a sense of beat, and to establish the foundation
for singing and musical thought. It's also great for meeting other
moms! Right now this class is combined with the toddlers.
Toddlers: Family Music for Toddlers is a 30-minute class for
one- and two-year-olds with an adult. Participate with your toddler in singing,
chanting, moving, dancing, listening, and playing simple instruments--while
developing a strong
musical bond with your child.
Through activities that bridge the natural connection between music and
movement, your child's musical aptitude and listening abilities are enhanced
and further developed. Right now this class is for babies through
toddlers (birth through 2-year-olds). That makes it easier for those of
us with both a baby and a toddler!
Special Summer Session: For ages 4-7 years
old. We will spend an hour each day for a week using music to explore
a fun topic: gardening! Activities include singing; playing
instruments; movement stories; focused listening of animal sounds,
instruments and classical music; singing games; creative movement;
parachute; story-time; sign language; simple crafts; and outdoor time. "See How My Garden Grows"-- Seeds,
sunflowers, robins and worms, bees and other insects, dandelions,
weather, and rabbits. I have a flower and vegetable garden, so we will
spend some time outside exploring it!
